Stained Glass Class No. 2

Our teacher demonstrates the art of soldering on one of her pieces. The first step was to wrap copper foil around all the pieces, apply flux and then you're ready for the solder.

Then she passes the torch to me. It was very hot. 700 degrees F. If you linger a little too long on the seam you are soldering, you run the risk of cracking your glass.

Phew! It survived. She told me the messy parts will come right off.

This was just the first pass with the solder. Each side will get two passes. After that, the entire outside of the piece will be ready to wrap in the came. Still having fun!

Could you tell me the exact name of the flux you used? Thanks.
It's fun, isn't it!

Elenka, I can check on that next class...all the materials were included for our first project...so we haven't purchased anything yet, per se. If you enlarge the image where I'm working on my piece, it's that little white bottle with the brush in it, but I don't think it's clear enough to read the label! I'll let you know what I find out.
