Hooked

Today we had another fun day of ice fishing in Acadia. This is a close up of a brook trout. Pretty, aren't they?

It being President's Day, there was a little more activity here.

There were ATVs and snowmobiles for playing on the ice.

We took a little hike on the trail after fishing.

We ran into people snow shoeing and x-country skiing.

There are lots of trails here that you can head out on.

One of Acadia's arched bridges.

I adore these massive works of art.

While I was in my stained glass class this evening, Henri took a trip to buy some more of these.

At Walmart.

That's right, around here Walmart sells worms. Yeah, we're hooked.

I'd have a great time cross country skiing out on those trails.... The bridges remind me of ones we have out here!

Hilarious, night crawlers in your refrigerator (!)

I'm not telling my husband about ice fishing -- he would be sooooo jealous.

He loves Brittany and I keep telling him it's like Maine except the people lucky enough to live in Maine actually get snow in the winter.

Good girl on the lipstick front.

Wonderful bridges - wiggly worm - trout. Looks like a good day.

Do you have any idea how old those bridges are? I love the gothic arch with the keystone at the top. Could have been made by some Templars when they snuck the Grail over, hehe.

BP - Although not constucted in my lifetime, they are surprisingly fairly new.

John D. Rockefeller, Jr. had them built along with the 57 miles of carriage trails from 1915 through 1933. He also gave more than 11,000 acres (about 1/3 of the park) to become what is known as Acadia National Park today. We love him for it! Here's a link that tells a little bit about all 16 of them: http://www.nationalparkstraveler.com/2010/01/bridges-acadia-national-park-and-mount-desert-island5293
