A Makeover Inspired By Roses

Each time we pass by this garden gate in Sorrento, I find myself dreaming of an English cottage garden.

Then recently I came across 6 of these bowls while out vintage shopping.

The simple design along with the fine crazing often found in a vintage piece of pottery are what caught my eye. I instantly fell in love with them.

Then there was my recent $5 yard sale find that I passed by the first time because I knew I didn't need it, until it hit me that this would be the perfect table to experiment on. I have suddenly developed a passion for anything shabby or vintage, especially if it has an English Cottage feel to it.

Here's how it looks now, displayed with a couple more vintage finds.

All it took was a quick coat of sparsely applied creme colored paint.

And just 2 coats of decoupage medium over a vintage tea rose that you may download for free from this website, containing royalty free vintage images.

I even found a tiny bug there too.

I'm always such a pushover for a sweet little bird face.

And of course for anything that goes cheap, cheap, cheap.

Ohhh love that table - and everything else. I have a cheap cheap cheap birdie - she is red and sits on my bed table.

I also have a metal patio table and want to decoupage it - I've read recently that there is an outdoor decoupage - have to look into that.

The dishes are grand! Just perfect for your "new" table.

Love what you did with the table! You've inspired me to be on the lookout for more things to redo, a little paint works wonders :)

I've left you an award on my blog today! I love reading your blog and hope you enjoy your award. :)

Today I'm working on that chair project and can't wait to leave my computer and get at it! I'll post pictures soon so you can see the before and after shots. Don't know if it will turn out as nice as your table but I have high hopes. :)
