Socked In

During our walk, in between today's raindrops, I took a few photos to show you.

While out enjoying the roses.

I'm also enjoying my new camera's built-in wide angle lens.

As well as it's fine macro feature.

And the zoom feature too.

What a contrast between the grey of the day and the cheery pink of the roses.

Henri borrowed my camera for a moment.

In order to illustrate my fine choice of attire today.

The Maine I Love

First, an article in today's paper for your reading pleasure.

Bangor Daily News

One of my favorite maps of Maine is of Mount Desert Island. That's where Acadia National Park is located. I'm slightly obsessed with this map as I have posted about it before here. Today I thought of another way to display it in my home. I printed out a copy of this map on half of an old manilla folder.

Grabbed my lighter

And set it on fire!



After I blew out the flame, it left a nice crispy edge.




I took some liquid gold leaf to the charred edges and with a few other embellishments, I mounted it to a plain black board to use as wall art for my kitchen.

The sea glass is positioned atop the town of Bar Harbor.

And here's further proof I'm obsessed with this map. About 6 years ago, I used a marine chart I purchased for $20 and polyurethened it onto the top of a round table. I topped it with glass I had cut by the local glass shop and it's still one of my most favorite pieces of furniture!

And yes, we marked it with a You Are Here "X" . . . just in case!

We Give Camden a Big High Five

Autumn in Camden Harbor.

Still a few boats in the water there.

Some are being readied for winter storage.

Inside one, was Max, the amazing bulldog that knows how to give a Big High Five.

He's pretty quick though.

Oops, almost missed it!

Romancing the Chowdah

Freshly scrubbed potatoes I dug up from my garden

become an ingredient in the meal that I made today.

A simple bowl of fish chowder with thick, crusty slices of warm buttered bread.

Tales of old sailors and sea lore, filled with mythical creatures are imagined as we dine in the room where our charming tin seahorse hangs out.

Behind our backs, on the bench where we sit, are words that speak of our love of the sea.

Our glowing candle lit wall sconce adds a touch of romance.

In our tiny nook right here in our kitchen, with a mirrored porthole for our view.

Such a cozy spot we have, all within reach of another bright garden harvest.

And a quick way to pull down the shade.

I just love spending time in my tiny kitchen by the sea!

Maine Maple Sunday

The way in.

I don't remember seeing any peppers. But this here is the sugar shack.

"Lady, please get your mitts off my nose."

"Hey! What the heck is going on out there?"

Knock it off I tell you! Just knock it off!!

Savoring Precious Moments

When family comes to visit we pack all the fun and happiness we can into a week's time. Nature shopping -- sea glass, pretty rocks, periwinkles and sea shells. Nature's bounty in a background of salt air and balsam fragrance. 3 generations now to experience these happy times that are forever imprinted in our memories.
