Patience

Still a little foggy this morning as we went out to haul our traps.
The water was flat calm though.

We were only gone about 30 minutes.

On our way back the sky started to look a little brighter.

Yes, definitely brighter.

Calm and bright.

Lots of shining sun ... just no lobsters, yet.

Tea For Two

It seems we are in a holding pattern of fog and mist in coastal Maine. So a bit of pampering is in order while we dream of summer days to come.

Something warm from the oven.

drizzled with strawberry jam and butter

The recipe for you to try.

With a cup of hot tea and a side of puzzle.

It feels so warm and cozy to just stay home

even if you're just a short drive away from Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park.

After All That Rain In My Garden

My fast growing green beans are about to flower!

The broccoli is coming along nicely too.

This pretty white iris is a welcome late bloomer.

And the lovely fragrance of lilac wafts in like clockwork the 3rd week of June.

What a scentsational time of year!

Rainy Days Are For The Birds

I really needed this rainy day to finish up my latest project. Here is the before of a pink flamingo I handknit in wool. I love to knit with wool because it shrinks when you wash it in hot water and this big bird needs to wake up from his nap, don't you think?

Here's a link to the pattern for this felted pink flamingo.
There, now isn't that better?

Strike a pose!

Strike another pose!

It seems someone is just tickled pink about all this rain.

Yep, still raining!

Of Lobsters and Sun Dogs

Today was launch day for our lobster boat!

Shortly before 8:00 a.m. the boat transport truck from Milbridge arrived.

From our dooryard to the harbor, it doesn't take long, but if you've never seen the process, it is fascinating to watch.

Down the ramp and into the water . . .

slowly floating away from the trailer,

and into the ocean's tide!

We are very thankful and blessed for today's successful launch

of this lady we have christened Fearless.

And just a few hours later we stared in awe as this Sun Dog appeared in the sky.

It was impossible to capture a shot that would do it justice . . .

but WOW... what a rare sight... and our first time to ever see anything like it!

Spending a Night in the Woods of Maine

Sunset last night on Lake Wassookeag.

Last night, our good friends Diane and Danny stayed with us in our newly revamped camper about 80 miles inland, in the town of Dexter, Maine. After dinner, we watched a couple movies, ending with Steven King's Cujo just before retiring for the evening.

The next morning, not far from our campsite, I took this picture

It was a strange sight for sure

Very strange . . .

But when you spend the night in the woods in Maine, you just have to be prepared for just about anything you encounter.

Oh, wait! That's just our friend Danny at a nice little Dexter eatery called Noah's Landing.
It was fun folks! We are so fortunate.
