Jelly Makin'

A few days after the crabapple pickin'
came the crabapple choppin'. Off with the stems and blossom ends my recipe said.

Then came the crabapple cookin', involving boilin', mashin' and more simmerin'.

After that came the crabapple drippin' through 3 layers of damp cheesecloth.

Still more simmerin', of the jelly glasses, then time for boilin' the crabapple juice with a box of pectin and NINE CUPS OF SUGAR! I was quite up to my elbows in correctly measurin', boilin' and laddlin' into my extremely hot sterilized jelly jars that I completely abandoned documentin' this part of the process with pictures. But here is the finished product displayed with the left over crabapples that are now in my backyard.

Today I opened one of the jars hoping the jelly did it's jellin'. It did.

And this is the samplin' part.

No home made bread right now, but still it was pretty good eatin'. And there you have it, my first ever attempt at jelly makin'!
