Vintage Raku and Rose Hips

Noticing that peace symbols are once again in vogue, I thought it would be fun to fashion one in raku. I used a white crackle glaze on this simple pendant and tied it with a grosgrain ribbon in a shade of chocolate.

It's form is far from perfect, but it has just the right amount of funky for me to have fun with.

While we were out walking today, I realized just how quickly late summer is starting to transition into autumn. Nearly all the rugosa rose blooms have been replaced with rose hips.

The blooms are few and far in between now

all the more reason to savor their sweet scent as long as we can.

hmmmmm.....doesn't look like the Japanese beetles have gotten to your roses. Mine are not photoworthy.

Elenka - Wish I could take credit for growing these...but they are the ones that grow right along the shore where we walk...with absolutely no gardener in sight...go figure!
