Between The Woods and Frozen Lake

We took a 2 hour drive inland today to check on our little spot in the woods, to see how it survived the winter. While there, I found this sweet little bird's nest on the ground right near our camper.

When we arrived, we followed the path down to the lake and noticed there were still a few patches of snow in the woods.

And then we saw that the lake was still frozen.

It's usually almost 10 degrees difference in temperature between here and where we live on the coast in Sorrento. Sorrento is warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer than here.

I like the way the sky looked up there today.

We headed back up the path to check on our camper.

Our two crow salt & pepper shakers looked like they weathered the winter just fine.

Can you believe it reached 60 degrees here today? 67 in Sorrento. You would never know it by the look of that frozen lake though.

Ooh - I found a bird's nest like that too. In fact - I've found three in the last year, knocked out of the trees by the wind I guess. Used to try to put them back when I was little. The lake looks gorgeous...

It was super warm here all weekend, in the mid 70's, but there are no frozen lakes nearby! Glad you had such a nice weekend!
