Adventure in Organic Eating

Today, I set off to shop organic at my local grocery store to see if I could tell a difference in taste between the brands that I regularly buy, which contain GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and the organic brands, which do not.

Here are some of the organic foods that I came home with. Most of them were much higher (up to double in price) than what I normally buy.

This was our first ever totally organic meal tonight.

And the organic southwest black bean soup

I thought it all tasted really good. Especially the $5.00 loaf of organic bread. After we finished eating, my husband asked where the rest of the meal was. He assumed he had only eaten the appetizer. Maybe I should have bought an organic cake mix. Oh well, there's always breakfast, when he will get a taste of the organic cereal that awaits in the cupboard.

Maine Maple Sunday

The way in.

I don't remember seeing any peppers. But this here is the sugar shack.

Noticing Things

It's great to be walking over the rocks along the shore again scouting out sea glass. Near the center is a nice frosty white piece laying just as I found it.

The water was unusually calm for March

A couple more boats appeared back out on their mooring.

Such a serene setting in a busy world.

Picnic in Bar Harbor

We packed a picnic lunch and headed to Bar Harbor to celebrate the first day of Spring. For lunch we had a grilled shrimp salad, fruit, Ritz crackers, Cabot pepper jack cheese, and for dessert, we had brownies with walnuts.

We found a spot at the town pier and to our surprise we were not the only

ones with the same idea,

Well, this little fellow already had his spot.

And all the others were lined up too. Who would have thought

this would be such a popular place to park and eat on March 20?

After we ate, we took a walk along the 100 year old Shore Path.

Coming back through town we stopped at the park overlooking the harbor, before we headed back to the truck.





And of course we saved a few Ritz and cheese for our friend.

It was good to beat the crowds of summer. They don't know what they're missing.

Subtle Message?

Recently I had a request to come up with a subtle way for a wife to encourage her husband to remember to wash his hands before emerging from the bathroom. The idea was to make something that would really grab his attention AND make him think there was something in it for him ...
