Let The Summer Begin

The flag pole at Sorrento's public landing today.

Memorial Day festivities seem to always mark the beginning of summer for us here in Sorrento.

It is plenty warm enough to take Simon along with us on walks now.

Either he's a little spoiled or we're a little eccentric. But if I just let him sit on my shoulder, he would no doubt become eagle bait.

Sometimes, Henri likes to push the stroller ahead and then catch up with him.

I'm not the only one that notices when he does this though.

The rosa rugosas are beginning to emerge. The scent is heavenly.

The lupines have risen almost overnight in a showy burst of color.

A few skiffs have been launched and have taken up summer residency on the float.

Ours will be next, but today it serves as a prop to show you my new summer purse that I won in a recent giveaway from the lovely Kat over at Low Tide High Style. I just love the wonderfully funky spoon handles, and I tell you it suits me to a tee!

Kat lives in Maryland, so you know the card she included would have to include an image of a crab! Her card is what inspired me to go ahead and attach my favorite crab pin right on the front of my new bag.

And since it is green, and not blue, I think the little guy will be okay with staying right here in Maine with me. Thank you so much Kat, I love my new bag!

Hi Lili,

Boy, could Simon be a little spoiled, maybe? My "Buttons" is so spoiled, are pets mean so much to us and they make us so happy, don't they? Those are some nice pics of you and Henri. I bet your glad the library is opening . . Have a Happy Memorial Day! Sandy:O)

...simon is too cute! i don't think he is spoiled at all...well, maybe a little, but not rotten! love the pics and so glad summer has begun its arrival for you. sorry i have been away a bit. i went through my blog and deleted the majority of it. received a few comments that made me very uncomfortable so now i am all about what i do...pearl and leather jewelry...which is perhaps how it should be! xoxo, mickey

Lili - Some more of your fabulous photos! The one of Henry pushing (ahead) that stroller is a riot! The beach looks beautiful and I love the roses and the lupines - we noticed them everywhere on our recent outing also!

That Simon - he is one lucky bird!

Oh and that purse - my goodness - how cute and adorable is that! Your little crab pin in the perfect compliment. I have some cute crab pins also - and I wear them every time we go to our beach house in Florida!

Have a great weekend - (I am working~~~)

Hi Lili,

Loved the photos. And especially the flag one for today. Seems like all flags that are unfurled and waving just give me goose bumps and pride more than ever.
Makes me think so much of our very, very free lifestyles...Even the freedom to BLOG! :-)
Your scenery is breathtaking. And...well, if your bird is a little spoiled, then he is one lucky feathered pet. When pets give us such joy and laughs and pleasure in this life, I think we can feel NO guilt in giving it right back to them.
The purse is one of a kind and I'm glad you won something that fits you perfectly! CUTEST pin!
Have a great day and thanks for a neat post.

Spoiled? Naaah. Eccentric - wellllll, that's what makes you so wonderful. I bet you get some fun comments about the stroller - that is so creative.

I wish summer was here - it is 52 and raining and cold and, well at least it isn't snowing, and everyone will be here for a "picnic" today - cooking and eating indoors, but fun fun fun anyway.

Well, I guess taking a parrot for a walk in a stroller could be considered a little eccentric - but that's part of your charm, and why I enjoy your pics and writings, Lili. Hope you had a happy Memorial Day. There are plenty of flags on the US blogs today!

Suits you to a tee? You mean a t-spoon?
Hey, is that cart designed for animals? I think it's sooo cool you are taking Simon out for a stroll. He's not spoiled, just a lucky duck. (ooops, sorry Simon)
Enjoy the summer folks!

Congratulations! I love Kat and was lucky enough to win a book a few weeks ago from her. I agree, the purse suits you well : ) Maine sure looks extra special in the spring time. Those lupines....DIVINE! And I love that Simon gets to come along for the ride ~ and that your hubby is cool with pushing the stroller! Thank you for your sweet comments; you know that they mean so much to me coming from YOU. Happy Tuesday, my friend! xx Suzanne

Hi Lili! I'm so sorry I didn't see your post until this morning! With my son's graduation it's been a little crazy around here!

I'm so glad the purse made it there safe and sound and I'm also glad that you like it! I thought it was pretty cool and when you won it I was thrilled because I knew you would appreciate it's true funkiness!

I loved seeing Simon's very cool stroller, he is clearly a bird about town! And those lupines are gorgeous!

Thank you for your sweet comments!

xo Kat :)

You live in Sorrento? What a completely beautiful place to be. Wow. And yes, it's a little eccentric to take Simon for a walk that way. And I LOVE IT!!
