Late Fall in Maine

Post Halloween at our place, with more leaves on the ground than in the trees.

The grackles have been coming to our feeders in droves today.  Every time I grabbed  my camera they would see me and scatter, but I managed to get this shot through the window before they saw me.

There is still some pretty color left along the route we take on our daily walk.

Yet by the time we finish our walk, we've noticed it gets darker a little bit earlier each day.

Henri took this zoomed in shot of the early morning fog right outside our window when he woke up at the crack of dawn the other day.

We just got finished unloading 2 tons of bio bricks into our cellar that the delivery guy brought tonight after dark.

Now I think this tired Maine gal will retire for the evening and thoroughly enjoy a good night's rest.  And we'll see whose feet hit the deck at the crack of dawn tomorrow.  I already know it won't be mine.

Ooops - trying again.

The fog picture is absolutely stunning - it looks like a painting.

And those birds - wow - what a shot!!! I've never seen that kind of bird before - they are beautiful.

The days are indeed shorter - and we've been having heavy rain so the clouds make it darker sooner.

Enjoy your sleep.

Grackles are amazing,
as are your fall

what all of those
bricks are for??

Carol and Suzanne, Great question you two! I forgot to let everyone know they are a clean alternative to burning wood and 2 tons of them are equivalent to 2 cords of wood. Here's a link to info about them: http://biopellet.net/ We used them for the first time last year and they really worked out well for us.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments and compliments. You all are so good to me!

The color is still beautiful and your sea pics are breath taking. We had blue birds here about a month ago, my fav. I love the diversity of Maine.

Lili,
Your photos continue to amaze me. You should enter them in a photo/magazine contest somewhere!
And Henry is every bit the photographer. What gorgeous pics. Your part of the country is simply breathtaking year round...Thanks for sharing such beautiful eye-candy of this earth.
I was going to ask about the bricks, but read in the comments what they were for. Wow...who knew?
Good for you for burning/heating cleaner! Hugs!!

Stunning photos again - love that misty one. And what fantastic birds - are they really so blue? We don't have those here in UK. (What a pity.)
