A Study In Color

Fall colors I've captured this week from a few of our favorite places here in Maine.   The crimson of the blueberry barrens in Franklin, not far from Sorrento.

Lily Bay Road overlooking Moosehead Lake up in Greenville.

Seemingly taken in the wilderness, yet just 1 mile from the hubbub of downtown Dexter.

Asticou Azaela Garden in Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island.

From Great Head Trail in Acadia National Park overlooking Sand Beach and the Beehive.

My first painting from an art class I started today in Ellsworth.

Ok that was painful, but necessary, so I will be sure to show you my progression attempt to paint something that won't make me wince when I look at it.  The class I am taking is Adult Finger Painting, taught by my friend Helen Douglas.  If you are local and want to join in the fun you can contact Helen at (207) 664-9559.  Take a look here to see some of Helen's amazing finger paintings.

Gorgeous fall pictures Lili...thanks so much for taking me on an autumn color tour without ever having to leave the comfort of my home! I will get there to see Maine in autumn for my own eyes one day though!

And I LOVE your painting...why on earth would you wince girl?!

You are walking where I want to be. Oh, how lucky you are, Lili.

But then you know this, already.

Those pictures are gorgeous! I especially like the blueberry fields tho. The colors look like a painter made red streaks across the land. Amazing!

Lili- I so remember those colors - I have similar photos taken from our trip there this time last year! The view from the top of Cadallac Mountain was fabulous - but COLD!! Beautiful colors my friend - both in the photos and your painting. I LOVE that painting - "your fingers" show great talent!

Well, I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and look for autumn colour but I know already that I will never find any as stunning as these. I've never seen anything like those red blueberry fields. Your painting carries the colour theme nicely through.

Well, Lili, with you covering all the beautiful stuff and me covering bugs, fungus and decay, we've got the whole world covered between us!

LOVELY, lovely, lovely. Aren't the blueberry barrens breathtaking.

Just stopping by for a short visit. We are all packed and are leaving (can you see my tears) later today. Our power was out on the island yesterday and we packed in 60 mph winds in the dark. Not the best exit strategy.

Sending love,

Your fingers are very talented - but we already knew that. Isn't painting just the biggest hoot? You can make so many wonderful things with paint.

Great photos too - as always.

Going up to Bar Harbor, Schoodic area this weekend. I hope some of the colors hold out.
I LOVE your painting. I like the composition of it, very appealing. Looks great framed. What fun.
Did you use real fingerpaint or something else?

Lovely parts of the country that I can visit through your eyes. So vibrant and colorful. Kevin and I are planning a trip to Maine next Summer. Not sure exactly where yet. His Father has maps and info of where he stayed on his trip back from Canada, after Kevin and I saw the pictures, we knew we wanted to visit. Thank you for sharing such beauty.
