My Shabby Textured Harvest Decor

I think I found the last 3 white pumpkins available in the entire State of Maine.  And I am so in love with them.  I love this one because of it's texture.

I paired my pumpkins with a ceramic pheasant and then captured a shot of them through the shabby mercury surface of one of my vintage mirrors.

Gosh, I really love all that added texture that the mirrored image gives.

Here's a closer look at the actual pumpkin in the foreground, compared with it's more textured reflection in the mirror.

Then I remembered I had brought in the last of my cilantro the other day and left it on the counter of my downstairs kitchen.

I am lucky to have 2 kitchens where we live and this one is not the one I cook in everyday, so I decided to just make it part of my harvest decor too.

So why not harvest the seeds to use as a spice.

So far I have no idea what recipe I could use these cilantro seeds in though.

But I really like the color and texture, as well as the fragrance that has managed to envelop the entire space.  So there you have it, the extent of my harvest decor so far.

Oh and Simon says hello to everyone too.

I think he has probably taken notice of that pheasant in the downstairs kitchen.

Cilantro seeds are corriander.

I love that textured pumpkin... it reminds me of a birch tree. Very pretty arrangement you made!

LOL...Hello to you Simon! Wondering how he feels about the camera pointed at him...
I love the pumpkin still-life/vignette. Beautiful. *love that mirror!! I laughed when you said you got the last 3 in the state of Maine. I love white pumpkins, a nice change from the traditional orange...especially nice for us girls who have all this "white-fever" going on in decor...
I saw one of your other commenters asked the same question I had. Do you let Simon eat pumpkin seeds...they are extremely fibrous and may not be such a good idea... just wondered! {:-o LOVED your post. Hugs

Jo and Julie, Simon prefers walnuts, almonds and sunflower seeds to pumpkin seeds. And I always look up anything new that I give him to find out if it's safe. Cilantro is on the toxic list though.
Teri, Your knowledge of herbs is wonderful, thanks for letting me know that. It makes sense because right there on the "toxic to parrots" list are coriander seeds!!
Mickey, Oh I would love to sit and have a chat with you over tea in my working kitchen too! Afterall, we would need some scones!
Thanks so much everyone! You always make me smile whenever I see you have left a comment for me! xoxo ~Lili

Wonderful pictures - I LOVE the mirrored image with white pumpkins and the pheasant - love it! And that Simon is one handsome fella!

Coriander seeds go wonderfully in far east Indian inspired foods - YUM!

I haven't gotten my pumpkins yet and my front porch and fireplace mantel are sadly lacking in fall decor at the moment. Every time I put the pretty leaves on the mantel, the "cat who will eat anything" goes up there and chomps them into slobbery leaf bits. Grr! Every year I get a Cinderella pumpkin from the farmers market and make pumpkin bisque soup sometime in November after I have admired its beauty for a good while... I think this weekend may just be the weekend to go pumpkin hunting!
Happy Happy Fall!

Hi dear! I miss Maine. Yikes, but I've been having wonderful shore and beach adventures down the Atlantic Coast. Now we're in Tupelo, Mississippi and survived tornado warnings, howling winds, raging rains, etc.

I love those white pumpkins too. The texture is great in your display. I left all my pumpkins with my good Maine friend and she is loving them. I'll get a few more in California. Already counting the days until we return. Is that awful?

All joys to you,

Very cool. I love cilantro too- I think you have to toast the seeds, maybe?? And then, isn't it coriander?? I'm not sure, but love it!

Your farmer saved the best for last - I love the white pumpkin that looks like it has a crackle glaze on it. Simon, you're a handsome fella.
