Ragamuffin

In anticipation of summer's arrival, it was about time we got our skiff into the water.

Henri's spur of the moment decision turned into a "come as you are" boat launch. "Hurry, hurry let's go while the tide is right!" So I just jumped into my rubber boots with no time to change my clothes.

If you've been reading me for a while, you've come to expect what Henri will be wearing. For those that have not, that would be his favorite turquoise tie-dyed shirt peeking out from under his life vest.

A candidate for the fashion DO's and DON'TS. You decide the category.

Also in anticipation of summer, I've been knitting and wool felting a few things for my shop.

A scarf that I combined with a ragged, non-wool fiber. In this pre-felted "before" shot, note the individual stitches are visible.

After one cycle of machine felting.

I think I like it this way.

But then again, that's coming from someone you've just seen commit a major fashion faux pas.

Still laughing here dear Lili! Love the scarf - simply adorable! Think the whole skirt story is so funny. Just like a man to not understand about all that fashion and practical stuff! You looked like a doll anyway -

Oh, we've been having our fashion "donts" lately when going for our early evening walks. When the sun and the light was just right yesterday, we stormed out, my husband in white socks while the rest of his outfit was dark (really bad), and me still in my pajama pants; to my defense they are plain gray! I think the skirt and rubber boots look kind of cute together!!!

Oh Lord if only I looked half that cute in rubber boots. Course my boots are encrusted with manure, so there isn't anything gonna make that look good...

Happy sailing, or actually lobster boating!

Smiles,
Lisa

Love the skirt and boots, You have just created a stir with your photo. Everybody else will now be going to find a similar skirt and boots. :-)

In that red skirt and wellies you look just right for the big music festival we have here called Glastonbury...it's always very very muddy so wellies are 'de rigeur' with whatever outfit.

Faux paux???
I think that you and
Henri are both lovely!
And, I like when people
dress for a purpose and
not necessarily for fashion!
The scarf is really pretty.
The boat is amazing. Can't
imagine having that at our
disposal! Hope your Maine
summer is a wonderful one, with
a lot of sunshine, blue skies and long days! xx Suzanne

Love the scarf and great photos. I need a new camera so bad. I am going to take some classes in Aug. so maybe I will break down and get one... I just would rather spend my $$$ at the antique stores.

Love the scarf!! I'm new to your blog and have a serious love affair with the state of Maine!! So glad to have found a place to get me daily dose. Your byline is very interesting to me...I dream of living there. I read about your friends moving to Florida. That is where I am, but long to live in Maine. Granted I have not been through a winter since my childhood in Niagara Falls. I look forward to visiting you often. P.S. Love the cottage you all discovered also. Looks perfect to me!!
