Late-Blooming Lilacs

This year my lilacs are about 3 weeks early. They are late bloomers but our season is about 3 weeks ahead of time this year.

I used to think something was wrong with them because they were such late bloomers compared to all the other ones in our neighborhood.

Until I realized they weren't exactly like all the others. I love the luxury of having them in several of our rooms tucked into glass wall pockets.

This is the view from my second story window of them about a week ago. The darker parts had not yet opened.

They sure know how to attract attention.

Some for my kitchen.

Some for our entrance way.

And plenty more to tuck in here and there.

What an intoxicating scent to have around. Wish I knew how to bottle it!

The colour and scent is amazing. They do look lush displayed in those wall pockets. I haven't seen anything like that over here.

I planted 4 lilacs along my shed wall last month. They are each a different type - including an "everbearing". Can't wait til next spring! Yours are just beautiful.

LOVE lilacs. My one bush did very well this year. I can't bring them in though or my hubby's nose will go ballistic. (and he's from Michigan where those seem to be in abundance from what I hear....)
Lovely wall vases, and your camera is just awesome. Hugs.

Lili! In all the hurly-burly around here I missed this! Oh my goodness, I miss the lilacs ALREADY, so it was a joy to open your page and see them around your darling house. I am certain that you have been enjoying their intoxicating fragrance all week long and I hope that it was a good one, dear friend. xx Suzanne

The wall vase looks so pretty! This reminds me of a brass nautical wall vase I saw, such a great idea.

Lili - the smell of fresh cut lilacs is simply divine. How wonderful that you have them all over your beautiful home! We have them here also - but alas, ours are already bloomed and gone. They were so lovely this year - everything was - our spring was amazing this year. Love seeing your beautiful photos!

Sigh, i miss lilacs. I had 10 huge old bushes at my very first house. They were blooming idiots and the house was full of them till the season passed. I could never grow them in CA. But now that Im here in Ore. my plans are to run a row of them along my property border as a screen....a heavenly scented screen. You are so lucky!
