Heartbreaker

Even on a gloomy day, this place where we live never disappoints.

Today I stole a few moments from our walk to beach comb. Right away I found some sea glass. Besides the obvious 2 green pieces, do you notice the other one in this shot?

It's a nice sized chunk that I pulled out of there and it looks like carnival glass to me.

But you're probably wondering what all this has to do with the title of my post.

It's because of this.

It's a new shade of nail polish that is called heartbreaker.

That's Henri, standing way over there in his red jacket, patiently waiting for me.

But once I'm here, I always find it hard to tear myself away from this place.

I chose that nail polish because it reminds me of the color of the ocean, on a not-so-gloomy day.

If it were me though, I think I would have named it l'amour de la mer.

Lobster Saving and Sea Glass Hunting 101

First you start with a lobster that someone caught in a trap,

and, of course, a girl with a heart.

Always get someone else to remove the bands from the lobster's claws for you... safety first. Then you carefully place the lobster back into the ocean.

When you realize the tide is going out and the lobster keeps trying to swim ashore . . .

You go to Plan "B"

Because afterall, you're going to need an empty bucket for beachcombing.

Always remember. . .the stinky things go into the bucket.

And the pretty things you can hold in your hands.

Remember to always let Mom sort them out for you.

To keep them from falling back on the shore.

Because Moms have much bigger hands for that.

What Do You Sea?

October winds make for good beachcombing.

And for finding unusual pieces of driftwood.

I see an alligator in this one.

Today, when I found this one, it reminded of the head of a cardinal or blue jay. And it fits nicely in an old glass bottle.

Although pretty, this is not real sea glass. Can you tell?

This sea glass bears the unmistakeable mark of the ocean.

Beachcoming for me, has become far more exciting than any mall could ever be!
