Schoodic Arts Silent Auction

Schoodic Arts is having a silent auction on July 26 at 3:00 p.m. in Winter Harbor, and we have donated a couple pieces of raku pottery for this event.

The inside of the pot has a few pieces of sea glass that we added during the firing.

And this small shiny copper plate is fresh from a recent firing.

Check out the calendar of events on the website link above too! The location is Hammond Hall, 427 Main Street in Winter Harbor.

Seacup

Here are some pictures of my submission entitled "Seacup" for the upcoming Bras 4 the Cause Auction to benefit breast cancer research. I first learned of this effort through Queenie, a fellow blogger who volunteered to head up this project.

I feel honored to be a part of this fund raising event for such an important cause.

Creative Collaboration

Our daughter Angie sent us these adorable pictures of the completed nursery all ready for our newest family member's arrival just weeks away. All of the furniture in the room was rehabbed or repurposed. I am just so tickled to show off the talents of this collaboration with her husband Danny and her sister Jennifer.
Angie told me the canvases used here were purchased for a dollar at a local yard sale and Danny painted over them to match elements in the baby quilt. A dad with talent and vision creating beautiful art for his baby girl already.

Here's a baby matinee jacket that I knit for Emmy earlier this year in a periwinkle blue with a shear pink ribbon that Angie selected.

Soon we'll be enjoying pictures of a far more important collaboration of Angie and Danny. The anticipated arrival of our newest granddaughter Emmy Rose!

Fresh From the Kiln

Last night's firing was interupted by more rain, but we managed to get a couple pieces fired.

It had been so long since we last fired the kiln that I had forgotten all about this piece.

Now it comes back to me why I made it

I bought this soap last year in Bucksport at a place called "Lost Cargo" partly because the scent reminded me of Old Spice. And partly because I wanted the box it came in.

And here's another fish that made it through the kiln too. His eyes are like a rainbow of colors.

And speaking of rainbows, this just appeared outside my window.

Anyone find a pot of gold?

Out Enjoying The Sun

Sorrento Harbor this morning drenched in sunshine.

This afternoon in Acadia National Park

We took a sunny stroll around Jordan Pond.

One of my favorite walks in Acadia.

We came upon this teeny, tiny

itsy, bitsy green snake

And a loon out on the water.

At the end of the lake, we crossed this rustic bridge

before hiking up to the carriage trail above Jordan Pond to continue our walk.

On the side of the path we came upon some wild blueberries that were coming along nicely in the sun.

Back in the truck, we decided to head over to Bar Harbor.

Where we may have had some ice cream. Because it's fun to eat ice cream while sitting at the
town landing gazing out at all the sailing vessels,

and spying on pirates while dreaming up adventures that take place out on the high seas.

Anyway, that was our day in the sun on this most beautiful of Maine days.

Fast Food

Dinner, put together in just 13 minutes. Featuring our first catch of the season.

We hauled up at least a dozen today, but only 1 keeper.

This one's being a wiseguy. He's holding what we measure them with to make sure they are keepers. He wasn't. "He" was a "she" that had been v notched, which means she at one time had eggs and must be released.

As we passed the folks on this boat, they asked us if we would be fishing on Friday. I explained we were non commercial and were not allowed to sell. For them, it's sort of like ordering take out aboard their boat.

And of course, the obligatory photo of our first keeper of the season. Will I be sharing?

The Captain may be a little hungry.

Or a LOT hungry.

Yep, I shared and I savored every morsel!

So Fresh, So Wild, So Frozen, So Blue

The absolute best frozen blueberries EVER. Anything else is just blue mush.

A good basic recipe to follow.
This is my favorite part.

I like this part too.

Saving some for later.

A good way to warm up on a chilly July day in Maine.
