Living In The Moment (and FARRAGOZ Art Course Winner)

I took these pictures while I was on the phone with a friend.  Don't worry, I told her there was a bright red cardinal right outside my window.  She knows me well enough to know I was reaching for my camera as we discussed how pretty our neighborhood was looking with its fresh dusting of white.

Holding my breath, I zoomed in on this red beauty, fearful he would flee before I captured the loveliness of his color.  My friend on the phone had just spent her first night in her new home just a mere half mile from us and was telling me how happy she was to have it snow on their first day there. She said her woods were so beautiful, she felt as though she was living inside a "Barbie Princess Fairy Tale" in her new place.

Hearing her say that made me smile.  Her happiness and gratitude for waking up to a beautiful sight in her new home was heartfelt.  She was living in the moment, in this normally hurried-up world and I felt her joy.

Oh how beautiful! The colour! He looks unreal. If only you could convince him to hang around until Christmas, he would make the perfect Christmas decoration for your garden. Thanks for sharing this magnificent bird with us. Do so envy your white Christmas, but happy you and your new neighbour will be able to enjoy it! xoxo

Your cardinals are so pretty, Lili. I love that your friend is so happy there in her snow-filled woods.

I love the cardinal in the snow - and what a delight to enjoy your friend's happiness. We had cardinals when we lived in Kansas - and in Wisconsin - no cardinals on the west coast - though I've heard that they have made it as far as the Rocky Mountains - where they never used to be - so maybe some day.

Thank you, Lili, for sharing this. You captured a rare moment with your camera (so pretty!), and it's a beautiful reminder that we can all choose to live in the moment and be grateful. Now I'm off to find my own fairy tale in my snow covered backyard!

What beautiful photographs you have posted here. I would love to see a live cardinal in the snow before I return to my homeland in early January 2014. At the moment I am still here in Central Virginia. We have not experienced any snow here so far... but there were two days of freezing rain about three weeks ago. I love the title of your post - Living in the moment. It really is a peaceful way to go through life. Praying that this will be a meaningful Christmas season for you. May your heart be filled with a quiet sense of joy. Much love, Lidia

My dear Lili,

First, I am hoping that you and yours had a wonderful holiday season. Knowing you, it was gorgeous.

I needed to read what you said about living in the moment. You are so right.

I loved the photos of the Cardinal. What color against the pure white.

Sending you and Henri love and best wishes,

Sharon
